THE 2008 FIRST NUSANTARA CHESS MACHEIDE BLITZ TOURNAMENT

Am not feeling well... My lungs still not fully recovered... While the MEDIA was reporting about criminals getting killed by police, food riots, fuel prices, missile tests, drug busts, price increases, etc etc etc, I held a silent "MACHEIDE" 1-minute blitz chess tourney in the computer using free downloaded software from the Internet. The interface SHREDDER 3 is a 30-day free trial version. And all the chess engines ("brains") are free downloads. So, these results are not really RELIABLE...
I let the chess engines (the "MACHEIDES") fight against each other in 1-minute blitz games.

I'm surprised at the poor performance of HIARCS. I expected it to hold 2nd or 3rd place! Maybe I had downloaded a FAKE version! This is one problem with FREE software...
CRAFTY was always at the bottom. But just even try to draw with it in BLITZ... And it scored well against the CHAMPION! A potential spoiler... RYBKA ALWAYS TOPPED all tourneys. So if you want to be a MACHEIDE, beat RYBKA!

I wonder if some of these engines I downloaded free from the Internet actually contain virus that infect the other engines... I even conspiratorially suspect some of these engines might be using the other engines' actual computing time & resources! And actually just spying on one's computer! If one wants a truly reliable testing/BENCHMARKING of chess softwares/engines, then one has to have a virus-free computer, & the latest, original/genuine software & not free downloads!
I conducted another tourney minus RYBKA:

Shredder here scored a phenomenal 100%! Hmmm... I AM suspicious...
I finally decided to just use the SHREDDER as mere chessboard & did not allow its two engines to compete in this final 4-engine, 18-game tourney. I suspected it might be cheating!

Finally, finally, I let SHREDDER engage in a 3-game match each vs HIARCS, TWISTED LOGIC & CRAFTY in that order. SHREDDER literally shredded the opposition! It scored 3-0 successively blanking each of the other 3 engines!!!
Then SHREDDER engaged RYBKA in a fighting 1-0-1/2 draw! And RYBKA COULD NOT shut out SHREDDER - It won 2-1 & then 2.5-0.5. RYBKA could only blank Crafty but not HiArcs & Twisted Logic! What do these results mean? And are the results conclusive?

RYBKA is the STRONGEST chess engine. SHREDDER is next in strength, stronger than HIARCS. Third place is not certain/conclusive... In future tourneys, I will always include (i.e., "seed") TWISTED LOGIC & CRAFTY as potential "spoilers"...
If you have the latest versions of all the following engines, get them to play against each other in match & tourney: CHESSMASTER, FRITZ, HIARCS, RYBKA, SHREDDER, TWISTED LOGIC, CRAFTY, JUNIOR, REBEL etc Don't use BOOK. (MY NEOLOGISM - somebody proposed in the Internet the term ¨MACHOLOGY¨ but this gives the connotation of the study of MACHOS or Really Male men, a subject more of interest to the 3rd Sex.
Dr. E. Lasker wrote a philosophical treatise in the German language wherein he introduced the philosophic notion of the MACHEIDE (unsure spelling), a being that has reached the highest attainable level in the STRUGGLE or BATTLE of LIFE. It has maximized its potentials and always moves/acts to realize its goal: to be the BEST in anything & everything. (Obviously, L. got it from Nietzscheś UBERMENSCH).
The interesting philosophical (as in speculative) issue is what would happen if two MACHEIDEs meet & collide against each other. Posing this would be tantamount to asking the IRRESISTIBLE FORCE vs. IMMOVABLE OBJECT question.
Now, all this is too theoretical & I do not know if anybody still has a copy of Dr. Laskerś original work. Today, for the less academic or more practical readers, there is an enjoyable/pleasurable way to get introduced to this field of MACHEIDOLOGY. One has to know CHESS of course & a little computer literacy is needed. If one has an Internet connection, then all this is FREE/GRATIS (NO MONEY INVOLVED):
1) DOWNLOAD the FREE versions of SHREDDER chess interface+engine. You may search the Internet for free softwares on CHESS, e.g. www.chess.com. Included are such softwares as ARENA, WINBOARD, etc. The SHREDDER will serve as the interface/chessboard. It also has the SHREDDER engine - the actual BRAIN that does the ¨thinking¨.
2) DOWNLOAD additional free STRONG ENGINES like the RYBKA beta 1, CRAFTY, FRITZ (saw a free old version), TWISTED LOGIC (original Philippine program), and others of your liking.
3) SET UP your SHREDDER software for an ENGINE TOURNEY for 1 to 3 minutes BLITZ game. I prefer that the ¨MACHEIDEs¨ play against each other 3 times. 1 minute may be too fast for you to observe so you may start with the 4-5 minute setting if you want to study closely their moves.
4) I do not allow the engines to use the BOOK. Let them ¨think¨ even in the OPENING.
5) Hope youĺl enjoy this...
Note: Observe the ¨character¨ of each ¨MACHEIDE¨. The battle gets exciting towards the ENDING when they try to beat the clock! & PLS DON´T TRY TO JOIN IN COZ these are rated Elo 2700+ in strength!

It is sad to know that CHESS is again being POLITICALIZED/POLITICIZED:
I read in the Official NCFP site that the Philippines´s TOP TWO GUNS GM Torre & GM Antonio are not playing... POLITIX again?!... The Tausug NATIONAL MASTER I was talking about is none other than
Abdullah Unding who is quite well known among strong chess players. I am SURPRISED why the title ¨NM¨ does not precede his name in the Tourney Sked... He IS a NATIONAL MASTER and practically an FM(FIDE Master) in strength as he told me his rating was 2300+. INDEED, the listed ratings (Elo or what?) of Unding & the rest are EXTREMELY LOW!!! An NM is 2200 at least. And yet the masters have their ratings at 2100+!!! I do not know how they obtain these numbers... Possibly they are following USCF ratings which yields low numbers (Popular Low low low hiphop tune by Flo Rida! Is SHAWTY PGMA??? HAR!) US ratings even have 1200 or the like which to me is no longer a CHESS rating... As a scholastic/academic chess player more than 2 decades ago I had a rating of 1800+-1900+ which is CLASS A-B. ANd SUPER GMs have now 2800+ ratings! Is there a CONSPIRACY to keep ¨LESSER MORTALS¨ in CHESS low low low low? HAR!
Old masters like ABSIN, Agagon, Manaog, Meneses & the other time-tested chess club habitues (even NM Ric Bandal!) I knew in the past all had 2100+ ratings ONLY! My goodness... some of these strong local players can whip GMs from other countries! My VERDICT: Either these ratings should be corrected & raised or they all lose their ¨Master¨ title...
Maybe there is a PCF/NCFP political battle brewing?... With those identified with the old association suffering? When most likely only one or two people are really guilty? Let´s all be fair & just... Repeating the same mistakes will only perpetuate problems... Paging Mr. Pichay... Most players I´ve talked with have only good words to say about you... Don´t let temporary success fool you to let down your guard... Pls. look into this...
NM Unding placed #16 in that very strong tournament & this alone reflects his calibre... SEVEN of them 6-pointers failed to enter the FINALS (Plus NMs Lorena, Tolentino, Absin, Vasquez, Olay & a non-NM Lopez) since only twelve were taken in with the other two 6 pointers to qualify being IMs Nolte & Bitoon...
Wouldn´t it have been better if the #13-#17 were also included? I really am SURPRISED at that SEMIFINALS tourney since NM Barbosa a UP standout who is a very strong master (Candidate IM?) was at the bottom of the field! Something fishy...
IS POLITIX AGAIN RE-INFECTING CHATUR in this ARCHIPELAGO? Paging the CHESS LOVERS in this ARCHIPELAGO of whatever persuasion/religion/etc...

Note how fair REAL CHESS is: this list includes Christians, Jews and Muslims! I an surprised how close I am to certain CHESS personalities! Four people on the list are familiar names to me!

I read in the Official NCFP site that the Philippines´s TOP TWO GUNS GM Torre & GM Antonio are not playing... POLITIX again?!... The Tausug NATIONAL MASTER I was talking about is none other than
Abdullah Unding who is quite well known among strong chess players. I am SURPRISED why the title ¨NM¨ does not precede his name in the Tourney Sked... He IS a NATIONAL MASTER and practically an FM(FIDE Master) in strength as he told me his rating was 2300+. INDEED, the listed ratings (Elo or what?) of Unding & the rest are EXTREMELY LOW!!! An NM is 2200 at least. And yet the masters have their ratings at 2100+!!! I do not know how they obtain these numbers... Possibly they are following USCF ratings which yields low numbers (Popular Low low low hiphop tune by Flo Rida! Is SHAWTY PGMA??? HAR!) US ratings even have 1200 or the like which to me is no longer a CHESS rating... As a scholastic/academic chess player more than 2 decades ago I had a rating of 1800+-1900+ which is CLASS A-B. ANd SUPER GMs have now 2800+ ratings! Is there a CONSPIRACY to keep ¨LESSER MORTALS¨ in CHESS low low low low? HAR!
Old masters like ABSIN, Agagon, Manaog, Meneses & the other time-tested chess club habitues (even NM Ric Bandal!) I knew in the past all had 2100+ ratings ONLY! My goodness... some of these strong local players can whip GMs from other countries! My VERDICT: Either these ratings should be corrected & raised or they all lose their ¨Master¨ title...
Maybe there is a PCF/NCFP political battle brewing?... With those identified with the old association suffering? When most likely only one or two people are really guilty? Let´s all be fair & just... Repeating the same mistakes will only perpetuate problems... Paging Mr. Pichay... Most players I´ve talked with have only good words to say about you... Don´t let temporary success fool you to let down your guard... Pls. look into this...
NM Unding placed #16 in that very strong tournament & this alone reflects his calibre... SEVEN of them 6-pointers failed to enter the FINALS (Plus NMs Lorena, Tolentino, Absin, Vasquez, Olay & a non-NM Lopez) since only twelve were taken in with the other two 6 pointers to qualify being IMs Nolte & Bitoon...
Wouldn´t it have been better if the #13-#17 were also included? I really am SURPRISED at that SEMIFINALS tourney since NM Barbosa a UP standout who is a very strong master (Candidate IM?) was at the bottom of the field! Something fishy...
IS POLITIX AGAIN RE-INFECTING CHATUR in this ARCHIPELAGO? Paging the CHESS LOVERS in this ARCHIPELAGO of whatever persuasion/religion/etc...
