2nd POST on MUSIC...

In POST 80 I mentioned about a "YASEEN SHAREEF". I thought that was a person's name... The name of the child QARI is "HASAN BIN 'ABDULLAH AL 'AWADH" reciting the SURAH (VERSE) YASEEN. Most likely the child is an ARAB & a SAUDI national... ['A IS THE SO-CALLED "AIN" sound in Arabic which has NO EQUIVALENT in English.]

If by "MUSIC" one means any melodious sound, then definitely this recitation is "MUSICAL" & definitely NOT HARAAM...

I consider MUSIC as an extremely important topic & though I DISLIKE argumentation/debate, I am willing to take a stand AGAINST any "MUSLIM" who believes MUSIC is TOTALLY HARAAM in a public debate on this issue... I PERSONALLY was introduced to ISLAAM via "MUSIC"... I remember a long, long time ago an INDONESIAN MUSLIM friend who DISAGREED with the ARAB's general negative attitude to MUSIC... (I have personally seen how RELIGIOUS ARABS react to MUSIC!) He said in INDONESIA one of their DA'WAH techniques was to use MUSIC (DANGDUT like RHOMA IRAMA)... An ARAB friend to whom I confided the issue commented wryly about the madness of leading people to "THE TRUTH" by using "FALSEHOOD" = MISLEADING them! = Building a MASJID/MOSQUE using stolen MONEY or raised from DRUG/HOLD-UP operations!!! MUSIC - A very, very CONTROVERSIAL issue among MUSLIMS indeed so I shall devote this & the next POST (MUSIC3) to this topic...

THERE IS ONLY ONE CASE WHEREIN I WILL AGREE THAT ALL MUSIC INCLUDING MELODIOUS QUR'AN READING IS TOTALLY HARAAM - BUT THIS IS IN CONNECTION WITH THE QUESTION ON WHETHER ISLAAM HAD ALREADY REACHED ITS PEAK IN THE PAST (GOLDEN AGE) & WHETHER THE WORLD IS NOW SEEING THE "END OF DAYS" as believed by some people including Muslims, Christians, etc etc etc.... More about this later...
