YES, my deer, MUSIC can serve as vehicle or medium of IDEAS or CONCEPTS!
HAH?! You DIDN'T KNOW THAT?!?!?! TSK TSK TSK
People unfamiliar with MUSIC (out of IGNORANCE or sheer HATRED of it) might believe that MUSIC is PURE ENTERTAINMENT (read: WASTE OF TIME) & has NOTHING AT ALL to do with the higher faculties & more profound interests of HUMANs.
BUT some thinkers (experts & scholars) have noted the affinity of MUSIC with MATHEMATICS. The ancient GREEK PYTHAGOREANS had a MUSICAL THEORY... One former WORLD CHESS CHAMPION was an OPERA SINGER. Several WORLD CLASS MATHEMATICIANS & NOBEL PRIZE winners are European classical music EXPERTS. PHYSICS's EINSTEIN was a violin enthusiast. COMPSCI's Dr. DONALD KNUTH plays well the church PIPE ORGAN. One native here with Ph.D. in PHYSICS (highly-specialized area) from the U.S. whom I used to visit without prior appointment & announcement was always practicing classical guitar in his room whenever I caught him... ETC & SO ON & SO FORTH

But I do not want to be academic/polemical/pedantic about MUSIC& I think it is POINTLESS & IMPOSSIBLE for me to DEFINE MUSIC.You see it is something NON-VERBAL or NOT really CONNECTEDto LANGUAGE as WRITTEN LINEAR SYMBOLIC forms or is of a DIFFERENT NATURE than language...Apparently it is closer to language than LOGIC but it remains distinct from ORDINARY linguistic communication etc
Now, We're GETTING TOO PHILOSOPHICAL...

MUSIC ties up with sound waves and air movement & the HUMAN sense of hearing (ear) & vocal organs (for SONGS - MUSICWITH WORDS. DANCE I distinguish from MUSIC... ) There is a SOUND SPECTRUM & some ANIMALS can hear what HUMANs cannot... Search the INTERNET about "MUSIC OF THE SPHERES"... There is apparently no MUSIC on the MOON's surface... [An interesting question is: CAN CONGENITALLY DEAF-MUTE PEOPLEHAVE A SENSE FOR MUSIC OR DEVELOP A CONCEPT OF MUSIC? (Possible because one can feel (TACTILE) beats & rhythms...)]

Personally. I have MUSICAL ABILITY (NOT really TALENT). I can play complete piano pieces & the guitar & can APPRECIATE MUSIC- which I developed ever since I first learned how to SING & DANCE at around age 6. I took piano lessons for a few years (Week-end sessions) BUT HONESTLY I never learned or understood the THEORY behind MUSIC. I just got the hang of it somehow thru practical experience...Nowadays I play by ear & simply improvise ("OIDO"). One can interact with MUSIC ACTIVEly (playing instruments & singing) or PASSIVEly (listening)I know more POP than CLASSICAL... Am familiar with NON-WESTERN MUSIC...(Some people believe POP MUSIC is BAD & STUPIDIFYING & CLASSICAL MUSICis GOOD & RAISES ONE's INTELLIGENCE)

STEP 1:
Go to the YOUTUBE presentations (I just hope these are still active links!)Just watch these & try to appreciate... Go thru these another round, this time try toreflect on whether these contain some theme or message & try to identify it... What does the MUSIC communicate as IDEA? Did it capture the IDEA via MUSIC well?... FOCUS MORE ON THE MUSIC rather than on the VIDEO, MORE ON THE TUNE than the LYRICS & NOTE MY COMMENTS

STEP 2:
Follow the presentations in the sequence or order I gave. It took me YEARS to appreciate these...

STEP 3:
THe TOTALITY of the IDEAS elicited in you...Try to muse, ponder on all these singly and as a totality... If the IDEAS are of the lower/lesser variety then you haven't GRASPED yet the ESSENTIAL... Try some other time... Maybe you lack some basic thoughtsor even some requisite personal experiences in the ground... I understand... Try to go back on this after a few days, or months, or years...

There's a RISK of course that you will NOT get to the intended DESTINATION... or even be MISLED... But my INTENTION in ALL these was ALL FOR THE BEST...

I got involved with HINDUISM both in its VAISHNAVITE
(VISHNU/KRISHNA/HARE KRISHNA/BHAKTI YOGA &

HARE KRISHNA is especially memorable because

Am watching Alexandre Dumas's THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO, an EXCELLENT literary work that I had read in the past & which had influenced so many later-day writers and, most likely, even film makers - including our very own Dr. Jose Rizal. Rizal's NOLI ME TANGERE & EL FILIBUSTERISMO clearly bear the mark/influence of Dumas...

This modern day film is an excellent version & worth buying/acquiring...

This adventure-filled film mentions/includes CHESS, CONSPIRACY, PRIEST, PRISONERS & PIRATES...

Where does fantasy & fact separate?... I believe Dumas's work is partly "historical" (as in "truthful") like Rizal's works...

In POST 80 I mentioned about a "YASEEN SHAREEF". I thought that was a person's name... The name of the child QARI is "HASAN BIN 'ABDULLAH AL 'AWADH" reciting the SURAH (VERSE) YASEEN. Most likely the child is an ARAB & a SAUDI national... ['A IS THE SO-CALLED "AIN" sound in Arabic which has NO EQUIVALENT in English.]

Another case of COINCIDENCE:
Had the SATTV open while doing something on my computer at the same time (TRYING TO DO TWO DIFFERENT THINGS SIMULTANEOUSLY! - A BAD PRACTICE). At the same time I was thinking about what my mother related to me a long,long time ago: that I WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN ABORTED (= another semi-OCCULT PERSONAL STORY). [She had ALREADY COMPLETELY FORGOTTEN about it and claimed there was no such thing. But I reminded her about her own account: that incident in the OLONGAPO PUBLIC MARKET & her trip to ALITAGTAG, BATANGAS for MAY FIESTA etc... But she had COMPLETELY FORGOTTEN about her own story she related to me more than once before... SO in this case, I, a 2nd-HAND (WITNESS/HEARSAY) ACCOUNT, am more RELIABLE than my mother who is the 1st-hand ACCOUNT!... (Now I'm getting interested about the legal bases of witness accounts, rules on evidence, including ISLAAMic versions...) Shall relate about this story later either here or in my aku-si-jamaal BLOG...] I was asking her about this aborted possible abortion/baby-murder in the past (1960) when AT THAT VERY MOMENT the SATTV which was set to CH STAR TV was showing a scene in "THE FORGOTTEN" where the mother or her companion was SHOUTING to the ALIEN about what he had done to the CHILDREN! What struck me as quite CLOSE (near-miss) is my inquiring about my ABORTED ABORTION & the THEME of the movie about CHILDREN being used/abused... The movie was almost at the end - wherein the mother found her young son... Am quite familiar with news reports about human disappearances especially children... Just search about this especially in the WIKI or other academic sites. I had read about this a long, long time ago in the SCIAM & Gardner's MATHEMATICAL GAMES column... It's not really the fundamental reason why I NEVER VOTE (Actually, I stopped voting even since Marcos time...)... I wonder how many human beings know about the paradox... How many U.S. presidential polls enthusiasts or Philippine 2010 polls presidentiables...

Am reading FEDOR JAGOR's TRAVEL IN THE PHILIPPINES published in 1965 by the FILIPINIANA BOOK GUILD, a book club founded by some of the BIGSHOTS in this country... It was published first in BERLIN in the 1870's...

In CHAPTER III, Jagor describes the houses, garb etc of the native Manilans. About the houses. Jagor has this to say & I quote,

"NEARLY ALL THE HOUSES AS WELL AS THE HUTS OF THE NATIVES ARE FURNISHED WITH AN AZOTEA, THAT IS AN UNCOVERED SPACE, ON THE SAME LEVEL AS THE DWELLING, WHICH TAKES THE PLACE OF YARD AND BALCONY. THE SPANIARDS APPEAR TO HAVE COPIED THIS USEFUL CONTRIVANCE FROM THE MOORS, BUT THE NATIVES WERE ACQUAINTED WITH THEM BEFORE THE ARRIVAL OF THE EUROPEANS, FOR MORGA MENTIONS SIMILAR BATALANES. IN THE SUBURBS NEARLY EVERY HUT STANDS IN ITS OWN GARDEN." pp. 17-18

Important words: "AZOTEA" & "BATALANES"

AZOTEA is simply a balcony normally fronting a two-story house & usually with railing of masonry or metalwork. BATALANES plural of BATALAN can no longer be seen in the houses of the natives. Tha past few days I intended to talk about the ff.:
- an unfortunate incident at GMA7 MRT station connected with my fasting during RAMADHAN But I've changed my mind. I should not dwell on negativities...

SAWM (Fasting) may be interpreted theologically/religiously/spiritually, or practically/medically, or scientifically etc. etc. It is also a form of training to instill DISICIPLINE & SELF-CONTROL

But the best pambuka or FAST BREAK (not as in basketball but the sense of "breakfast" in the morning) in the order of good-better-best:
1 - LABAN (YOGHURT) & TAMR (DATES) [For ARABS & Mid-Easteners] BEST
2 - MILK & FRESH FRUIT [For any region]
3 - BUKO JUICE + YOUNG COCONUT MEAT [For NUSANTARANS]

Of course, the simplest is H20 (water) & any foodstuff even NaCl (salt) or sugar. Thinking of eating during fasting period! But this is less worse than those who fast in the day & then feast at night like in KSA. (They just turn night into day & day into night!) One SHOULD lose weight during this month...

Sunday Sept 14 My mother was watching CH2 Korina Sanchez on TV while I was scanning a page of Martin Gardner's book AMBIDEXTROUS UNIVERSE [Gardner was actually my "idol" or model & I finished an A.B. PHILOSOPHY to imitate him (& not Dr. Emanuel Lasker, the world chess champion)... As I was turning to page no. 28-29 which had a large image of the names "TIMOTHY" & "REBECCA" (Figure 14 of Gardners' book published by PENGUIN BOOKS, 2nd Ed. 1982) Just at that very/EXACT moment when I saw the name-words, Sanchez was mentioning on TV the name "REBECCA". She was discussing the case of a child actress named REBECCA Lusterio in her program...

I forgot to post this but ONE DAY (am not exactly SURE) before the comedienne ZORAYDA SANCHEZ died, I had seen & NOTED that name ZORAYDA in the book of Wheatcroft (or another author) & thought about her!!!

As chore break, I opened the SATTELTV to check on what's showing on HBO, CINEMAX & STAR TV: THE WITCHES (HBO), THE VICTORS (Cinemax) & a film on AMERICAN CIVIL WAR (STAR TV) THE VICTORS began with a scene showing two soldiers guarding their outpost while their area was under intense aerial bombardment by Nazis AT THAT VERY MOMENT, a HUEY helicpter passed by overhead! I notice that our area is along the flight path of military helicopters... I assume there exists a dedicated path for air vehicles flying over the metropolis... Is it bec. my late uncle was a PAF? or bec. I graduated from the ATENEO whose ROTC is Air Force (La Salle is Naval ROTC)... or bec. of the Defensors...???

ALSO; Is it COINCIDENTAL that while one film is showing troopers,another film is also showing troops though in another scene from this other movie (THE VICTORS = troops in ITALY? while STAR TV UNION troops

TO a CONSTHEOrist this is not COINCIDENCE, NOT CHAnce BUT CHOice!

This is a geometric representation of the GFC (Global Financial Collapse). Since things are now turning upside down,inside out... Backwards the LETTERS turn into CFG...=? (I forgot the acronym its supposed to be transformed into!) Is this a case of Alzheimer's ???!!!... (But I had found a very funny transformation just this afternoon...)

Thus, at one stroke, A.I.G. became G.I.A., a terrorist organization! HAR! (BARCLAYS bought part of A.I.G... What does this mean?) Here, banks like Sy's BDO, MetroBank etc etc (6 banks according to the news) are affected... Philam-Life...

I also thought of a joke about knowing how to manage or RUN a BANK...

Gregorian is an Armenian (Christian?) from Tabriz, Iran who is/was president of Carnegie Corp., Brown University, NY Public Library & dean of FAS U. of Penn.

It is a very thin book that can be finished by a fast reader in one sitting. The author presents a balanced overview of ISLAAM & its relation to world affairs presenting it as a system though mentioning the varieties of MUSLIM interpretations... It laments widespread U.S. ignorance of not only MUSLIMS but also the variety of world cultures (Stoop...Americans would categorize Gregorian as an Arab Terrorist iwth his looks & beard HAR!!) & tries to promote dialogues among cultures & mutual understanding.

I'm surprised I am only its 3rd borrower though it is more than 1 year old already... I think it is not that very few are interested about current issues but that few are really reading books nowadays... The power of mass stoopidification...

Some highlights from book:
- borrows the term for Pan-Islaamic movements = "Green Menace"
- distinguishes ISLAAMISTs from other ISLAAMIC groups (e.g. 1979 IRAN REVOLUTION by ISLAAMISTs)
- internal struggle between modernists & traditionalists
-it was Spanish & VENETIAN forces which defeated the OTTOMAN TURKS in the BATTLE OF LEPANTO (Ask University Belt students what they know about Lepanto - where it is located & they wouldn't
answer it is off GREECE HAR HAR!)
- the GOLDEN AGE OF ISLAAMic civilization occurred under the ABBASSID CALIPHATE (750-1258)
(some 500 years)
- mentions details like Arabic origin of some English words al-kuhl, al-jabr, al-kemia
- quotes many MUSLIM thinkers & leaders reaction to WTC 911 like KHAMENEI, KHATAMI, FADLALLAH, TANTAWI,YASSIN, AMRMOUSSA, BELKEZIZ, etc
- mentions that in 1965, the Vatican recognized for the first time MUSLIMS as part of "God's salvation plan" ( I DIDN'T KNOW THIS.)

GMA7 featured SMARTEST ANIMALS - ZOOLOGY showing two intelligent beasts - DOLPHINS & ELEPHANTS A guest animal trainer said according to scientists some of the most intelligent animals are RATS (metacognition) & CROWS (tool-using). There was a brown-white rat named GENSAN raising the Philippine Flag (something to do with
Mindanaw? [An MNLF told me a long, long time ago that INDONESIA considered Mindanaw as its 27/28th PROVINCE! Small wonder Philippine Star cartoon shows MIndanaw map & Burning Kubo... WHY is GMA not attending UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY in NY? A political move?]

I have always considered rats & mice as extremely intelligent animals. I have read that they survived extermination by HUMANs because they lived close to them/him! So to survive, live as
close as possible to your enemy! I call this the MOUSE STRATEGY. There is even one excellently written science fiction short story which concludes in a very surprising end: the crafty enemy of man turned out to be the rodent!

More about ANIMALS: the MEDIA again shows demonstrations by pro-animal activists: anti-JAPAN killing of DOLPHINS & they show BUTANDINGS in LAMON BAY... My QUESTION: are the animal activists really concerned about ANIMALS or are they only using the animal issue for something POLITICAL? Like the anti-JAPANese would definitely support anti-dolphin killing & whaling for the Japanese go ocean-hopping/fishing for these. I remember one HOLLYWOOD show which showed a man wearing "NUKE THE WHALES" shirt HAR!

Try changing the DUTCH POLICEMAN with either an AMERICAN or SPANISH POLICEMAN. What would then be the equivalent to the ACHEHNESE & the INDONESIAN (=JAVANESE or MOLUCCAN)? MY GUESS: A TAUSUG & a FILIPINO (TAGALOG or ILONGGO) Is the analogy accidental, CHA or CHO? Try changing countries (IRAQ, VIETNAM, MEXICO, MOROCCO etc etc) & guess what/who would be the equivalent to the three characters.

Some apparently worthwhile movies around 2-3 o'clock in the afternoon Saw on CH9 George Clooney in IRAQ, another apparently related to MUSLIMs Are these channels (HBO, CINEMAX, STAR, HALLMARK etc) programming their shows to cater to MUSLIMS who most likely would be watching TV on RAMADHAN afternoons. So mind-manipulation/propaganda via MOVIEs...

Denzel Washington COURAGE UNDER FIRE about IRAQ...

They are showing on SATTELTV "PIRATES OF SILICON VALLEY" about the story of the PERSONAL COMPUTER (PC) - that ubiquitious machine used by billions of people nowadays & taken for granted by almost everyone... The movie is about the story of Steven Jobs (APPLE), Wozniak, including Bill Gates (MS/DOS), & other Steves & Bills... Those hippie-looking, long-haired BEARDED creative thinker-dropouts from Berkeley, Harvard etc who started the PC REVOLUTION while circumventing the CORPORATE WORLD of BUSINESSMEN those conformist beings with their clean-cut looks, shaved & short hair-cuts & neckties & all... Icons like the ALTAIR computer, APPLE II, the style of dressing, the background pop music, roller-skating (no rollerblades then), other historic icons/markers of that period are quite accurate (A song: "EVERYBODY WANTS TO RULE THE WORLD"...) When one hears this, one is reminded of that era/time - Of course younger generations have no or another "meaning" to associate with such sounds & sights...

JOBS = led to many jobs via the computer... CHA or CHO, I mean his family name???

The movie ended with Bill Gates buying the APPLE company. Gates simply buys out the opposition - including FOXPRO's Dr. W. Kennamer whom I admired...

I remember in the late 70's & early '80s when I took additional short term computer courses on ASSEMBLY language programming (IBM 360) to complement my FORTRAN language in UP undegrad ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING course. Most of my close-associates in UP became full-fledged programmers, engineers, professors with U.S.-PhDs (My joke: they are now all DOCTORS while I ended up as QUACK DOCTOR/HERBOLARIO (dalam Bahasa: BOMOH)!) CHAnce or CHOice? One can simply reduce my case to that of one lazy, weak-willed tropical-dweller... BUT If one believes in something beyond MATTER, then one can say my life's course was WILLED by something higher than me... I may not have become a successful VICE-PRESIDENT for EDP/MIS OPERATIONS of a big-time company or govt agency but I personally realized that HUMAN PROGRAMMING PREDATED MACHINE PROGRAMMING BY at least 1 MILLENIUM... REMEMBER: I am A SELF-APPOINTED FOUNDING FATHER OF CONSPIRACY THEORIES IN THIS PHILIPPINESIA.

I was supposed to embark on a career as COMPUTER PROGRAMMER. I worked for the Philippine government (both national & local) in starting positions doing actually SYSTEMS ANALYSIS & PROGRAMMING though without the proper/corresponding working item/position & salary!!! (This is one problem with 3rd World countries where ENGINEERS work as TECHNICIANS, DOCTORS as NURSES etc etc!) I knew that I was just at the starting point & I passed the exam of the National Computer Center/Institute for further training so that I could get an official COMPUTER PROGRAMMER designation by passing its training course & national board test. SO working on weekdays & studying on week-ends for career advancement... I do not know but the FRUSTRATIONS - working long distance waking up early & going home late the tiring travel (I TRULY UNDERSTAND HOW HELPFUL THE MRT HAS/HAD BEEN TO WORKERS IN the METROPOLIS!) for a measly salary compounded by my weak will & lack of competitive urge (no actual CAREER PLANS in Life!) led me to GIVING UP that I.T. CAREER... I gave it up - just let the whole thing go comparable to releasing one's grasp on a rope while on a hanging position... I became a MUSLIM/reverted to ISLAAM while still working for the govt. though I DID NOT really PUBLICLY DECLARE (as in FLOUT my OLD religion) my CONVERSION (PROPERLY: REVERSION). In fact I hid it which was a mistake...

Partly-watched a Mel Gibson film about South American Indians or is it Mayans/Aztecs/Incans??? Included human sacrifice during a solar eclipse but I did not get its title. It has something to do with PRE-COLUMBIAN AMERICA. The natives were shown killing each other & at the end when the protagonist was about to be caught, a new group appeared: the CONQUISTADORES. Need to watch it with closer attention to see its underlying theme, purpose, message...

Remember: the Native Indians were the original owners of the whole 2 continents of the AMERICAS & any CORRECT HISTORY of that part of the world should present this HISTORICAL FACT.
